STORIES

The Mind Like a Strange Balloon

Tom Maddox, The Mind Like a Strange Balloon

Here's my first published story, from OMNI, June, 1985. Remarkably, I can still read it without suffering toxic shock.

The Robot and the One You Love

A story, also published in OMNI, concerning love, industrial espionage, and robots. Or something like that. Click here to read it.

Gravity's Angel

A story published in OMNI—I see a trend developing here—concerning the Superconducting Supercollider that might have been. Click here to read it.

Japanese Omni Cover

Snake Eyes

This is my mainline cyberpunk story, published first in OMNI then in Bruce Sterling's Mirrorshades: The Cyberpunk Anthology. I think this is the Japanese OMNI cover.

It's gotten around.

Florida

Magicon Bookmark

Calling this a story is a stretch. It's a tiny piece that fits on a bookmark, published as a contribution to the anthology named above, for the 1989 Magicon in Orlando, Florida.

NOVEL

Halo

Cover of Halo, a Novel

This novel was originally published by Tor Books in 1992 to what I regard as a gratifying reception: lots of reviews, mostly enthusiastic, and good sales for a little-known author.

It is now out of print, and I am delighted to continue making it available on the web.

Click here to read the complete novel in one file.

You can also read it in five parts:

Part I

Part II

Part III

Part IV

Part V
